Dr. Manuela Ferrari appointed as the new Associate Director of Academic Affairs

June 16, 2026

We are pleased to formally announce that Dr. Manuela Ferrari has taken on the position of Associate Director of Academic Affairs at the Douglas Research Centre since late January 2026.

She replaces Dr. Nicolas Cermakian, who held this position for 10 years, and whose dedication contributed to the creation and development of several of our key activities. We thank him for all of his work over the years.

Dr. Ferrari brings with her a commitment to collaboration, co-development, and knowledge mobilization. We are excited for this new chapter at the Douglas!

As I begin this role as Associate Director of Academic Affairs, I would like to recognize the outstanding work and dedication of those who have helped shape the strong academic community we have today at the Douglas Research Centre. I am honoured to build on this foundation with a vision centred on student and trainee success, meaningful mentorship, and a strong sense of community fostered through interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration. Together, we can continue to create opportunities for learning, innovation, and professional growth, while ensuring that every member of our community feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive. I look forward to working with our distinguished colleagues and our talented students and trainees as we continue to build an inclusive, connected, and inspiring academic community dedicated to excellence in research and improving mental health care.
