Stéphane Richard-Devantoy, MD, PhD, conducts studies to better understand the characteristics of elderly depressed suicide attempters, focusing on neuropsychological and functional neuroimaging. He obtained a PhD in neuropsychology and completed postdoctoral fellowship training in neuroimaging of suicidal behaviour at the McGill Group for Suicide Studies. He is currently a psychiatrist in the Depressive Disorders Program at the Douglas Institute and in Department of Psychiatry at Saint-Jerôme Hospital. The general objective of his current research is to improve our understanding of cognitive control mechanisms involved in elderly suicidal processes. This preliminary step is crucial to define stronger predictive markers and more effective prevention strategies for late-life suicide.
