The processing of projects leading to their authorization follows a standard path that is adjustable according to the needs and particularities of the research projects. This path is illustrated as follows:

Research Project Flow Chart

  1. The project may be supported by the institution when it is submitted to granting agencies, in which case a letter of support may be submitted. This support is not mandatory for project registration.
  2. The project is submitted by the recording of all documents in an electronic file.
  3. The project is evaluated to determine if it is scientifically valid and ethically acceptable. The project is also reviewed for site-specific requirements by the institutional directorates to see if the institution accepts to take part in the project. Evaluations are usually conducted in parallel but may be conducted sequentially if required by the evaluators.
  4. Once the project has passed all the evaluations, it is authorized by the mandated person, Ms. Najia Hachimi-Idrissi. Only then can the project begin at MWI IUHSSC sites.
  5. Ethical approval of the project must be renewed annually and all amendments must be submitted and approved. The authorization is automatically renewed when ethics approval is renewed.
  6. The principal investigator officially end his/her project when it is finished.
  7. The knowledge transfer plan is started if it has not already begun.More information for each stage of a research project’s progress is presented below.
