About the TIDE Study
The TIDE study is an innovative clinical research project focused on treating young individuals with major depressive disorder. Our goal is to identify factors that predict successful remission and long-term well-being in youth assigned to receive either cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or fluoxetine. We are currently seeking a licensed psychologist to provide CBT to participants in the CBT treatment group.
Mandate
We are looking for an experienced psychologist to provide CBT (cognitive-behavioural therapy) to young participants assigned to the CBT treatment group as part of the TIDE study.
As a therapist in the study, you will be responsible for conducting individual therapy sessions focused on evidence-based CBT techniques to help participants manage their depression. The treatment phase consists of 20 therapy sessions over 16 weeks per participant. There is a crossover phase for participants who have not achieved full remission (maximum 16 weeks).
Compensation and benefits :
- $100 per hour, based on completed sessions.
- Required hours: approximately 4 to 8 hours per week (flexible schedule based on availability and participant recruitment volume).

- Your role will be critical in ensuring that participants receive high-quality care, and you will work closely with a team of researchers to monitor the progress and outcomes of the participants.
Description of tasks
- Provide individual CBT sessions to young participants aged 12 to 25 with major depressive disorder (MDD), in accordance with the study protocol.
- Conduct 20 sessions over 16 weeks for each participant assigned to the CBT treatment group and for patients in the fluoxetine treatment group who require a crossover phase.
- Possibility of 4 booster sessions for partial responders in the CBT group during the crossover phase.
- Optional additional sessions with families/parents/partners.
- Collaborate with the study team, including clinicians and researchers, to assess participants’ progress, identify treatment barriers, and adjust the approach as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards according to research guidelines and professional ethics.
- Document session notes, progress, and any relevant observations according to the study protocols.
Required qualifications
- Doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD)
- Member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec
Required skills
- Strong training and experience in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), particularly with adolescents and young adults.
- Comfortable working with young people (12-25 years) in a clinical setting
- Experience in a research environment or willingness to follow study protocols
Location of work
Depressive Disorder Clinic – Douglas Research Center (Douglas Mental Health University Institute).
Work schedule
- Part-time (1 or 2 half-days per week).
- Duration of study between 1 and 3 years
