Two Douglas researchers supported by CFI investments

November 26, 2025,

Thirty-two McGill research projects have received new funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to invest in research infrastructure supporting their innovative work, for a total federal investment of $9.7 million. Among them, two projects were awarded to Douglas researchers: Drs. Katie Lavigne and Corina Nagy.

These grants will also be matched by the Government of Quebec, doubling the overall investment and strengthening research teams’ capacity to carry out ambitious projects.

The Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) helps Canadian universities attract and retain outstanding researchers, while providing them with access to highly specialized tools to advance research in high-impact fields. This year, nearly $115 million will be invested nationwide to support research infrastructure projects across 47 post-secondary institutions.

“From advancing breakthroughs in quantum science and technology, to tackling chronic lung disease through new therapeutic approaches, these investments empower McGill’s researchers to create solutions with lasting impact on society.”

– Dominique Bérubé, Vice-President, Research and Innovation

The two projects funded are detailed below:

  • A multiscale, open-science approach to digital cognitive phenotyping in transdiagnostic psychiatry
Professor Katie Lavigne, Department of Psychiatry
  • Advancing high-resolution translational brain research with cutting-edge single-cell methods
Professor Corina Nagy, Department of Psychiatry

Congratulations to the Douglas researchers and all the teams funded this year!
