Drs. Gustavo Turecki and Naguib Mechawar receive a Platform Support Grant 2025 from Brain Canada

We are proud to announce that Dr. Gustavo Turecki and Dr. Naguib Mechawar, have been awarded a Brain Canada 2025 Platform Support Grants (PSG).

Brain Canada’s flagship Platform Support Grants  program aims to support interdisciplinary collaboration and enhance Canada’s technical and research capabilities through shared tools and databases, to transform research into real world impact.

Unlocking the brain’s complexities depends on reliable infrastructure and open access to scientific tools. This investment will strengthen a culture of Open Science so that specialized knowledge can benefit everyone.

The project led by Drs Turecki and Mechawar is one of six initiatives in Montreal to receive funding through this national competition, which supports cutting-edge research platforms advancing open science across Canada.

The Douglas-Bell Canada Brain Bank (DBCBB) is one of the world’s leading brain banks, with over 3,600 brains and detailed clinical data from donors with neurodegenerative and mental disorders. Internationally recognized, it supports cutting-edge research in Canada and abroad, advancing the understanding and treatment of brain disorders.

This funding will support the activities of the Douglas-Bell Canada Brain Bank.
