This year, twenty research projects at McGill received funding from the John R. Evans Leaders Fund, highlighting their innovative character with a total federal investment of $5.5 million. Thanks to the Quebec government’s contribution, these grants will be doubled. Among the projects funded is one led by Mahsa Dadar.
The results were announced on September 13 by the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. A total of $86 million was awarded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF), supporting 316 projects at 47 universities across Canada.
This funding enables universities to provide their best researchers with the highly specialized infrastructure they need to excel in their fields.
Better support for the next generation of researchers and more modern science and research infrastructure is key to supporting the secure and thriving economy of tomorrow. By supporting researchers at all levels and promoting diversity, we are reinforcing Canada’s leadership in tackling challenges and improving quality of life for all.
– Marie‑Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Revenue
