The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) recently elected 104 new Fellows for their outstanding scientific achievements and announced the incoming class of the RSC College. This recognition, the highest distinction awarded in the arts, social sciences and natural sciences, testifies to the significant impact these researchers have had on society.
Among them, Jai Shah, psychiatrist and researcher at the Douglas Research Centre, was named a member of the prestigious College of New Researchers and Creators in Art and Science.
Specializing in the early stages of psychosis, Jai Shah works with the Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychosis (PEPP-Montréal). His work aims to improve early mental health interventions in young people, a crucial area for preventing the progression of severe disorders. This appointment testifies to his commitment to innovation and research, which contributes to improving the mental health of the next generation.
The Royal Society of Canada is very proud to welcome today an imposing group of inspiring scholars, artists and creators whose peers have recognized their exceptional contributions to the world of science and culture and to the well-being of Canada. The impact of their work will continue to be felt in the development of public policies for years to come, while contributing to the well-being of our society.
– Alain-G. Gagnon, FRSC, President of the RSC
