On July 9, 2025, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) announced a record $660 million investment in fundamental research.
Drs Delphine Raucher-Chéné and Tak Pan Wong are among the recipients of the Discovery Research Program competition.
The Discovery Grants Program supports long-term research programs, fostering creativity and innovation by providing multi-year operational funding. It can also help access additional funding sources, though it does not cover all program costs.
The Government of Canada’s continuous support for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics ensures Canadians have the knowledge and means to pursue their greatest ambitions. That support has created a legacy of innovation that includes breakthroughs like lithium-ion batteries, quantum cryptography, and artificial intelligence. Today we celebrate the many researchers across Canada who are building a stronger country for all of us.
— Alejandro Adem, FRSC President, NSERC
