We are proud to announce that Dr. Yashar Zeighami and Dr. Mahsa Dadar have been awarded a Discovery Grant from the ALS Society of Canada and Brain Canada Foundation.
The 2025 ALS Canada–Brain Canada Discovery Grants fund innovative projects to deepen scientific understanding and accelerate new approaches to treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
These grants enable Canadian researchers to pursue high-impact ideas and make urgently needed progress for people living with ALS.
Our partnership with ALS Canada reflects a shared commitment to advancing research that can transform the lives of people affected by ALS. By supporting both innovative early-stage ideas and projects with strong foundations, this program helps accelerate discovery across the research continuum. Strategic, collaborative investment in Canadian science is essential to driving progress and delivering meaningful impact for those living with this devastating disease.
– Dr. Viviane Poupon, president and CEO, Brain Canada Foundation
The project led by Drs. Zeighami and Dadar is one of six research teams to receive funding.
Their project, “Developing pathology specific imaging biomarkers in ALS: integrating postmortem neuropathology and multimodal ex-vivo MRI”, received funding in the Seed Grant category.
Congratulations, Drs. Zeighami and Dadar!
