Dr. Romina Mizrahi appointed Director of the McGill Research Centre for Cannabis

Montreal, November 14, 2025

Dr. Romina Mizrahi has been appointed as the new Director of the McGill Research Centre for Cannabis (MRCC). In her new role, Dr. Mizrahi will oversee strategic initiatives in research, funding, partnerships, and innovation, guiding the centre’s efforts to advance scientific understanding and practical applications of cannabis.

The MRCC is recognized as a national, transdisciplinary hub, integrating plant science, agricultural engineering, medicine, law, socioeconomics, education, and harm reduction. Its mission is to centralize cannabis-related research and provide evidence-based knowledge to inform health, societal, and legal policies. The centre links research “from plant to patient to society” and serves as a unique resource for provincial and federal regulators.

Under Dr. Mizrahi’s leadership, the MRCC will continue to:

  • Develop evidence-based clinical guidelines for cannabinoids in pain, oncology, immunology, and mental health.
  • Establish quality, safety, and sustainability standards for the cultivation, processing, and formulation of cannabis-derived products.
  • Train highly qualified personnel at the interface of science, society, and policy.
  • Mobilize knowledge to inform policy and practice at local, provincial, and national levels.

In addition, the MRCC and QAQCC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control for Cannabis) will host the 5th Annual Cannabis Scientific Symposium: From Plants to People, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to share knowledge and advance the field.

Researchers, organizations, and partners interested in cannabis research are encouraged to contact Dr. Mizrahi to explore funding and collaboration opportunities.
