The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) and its Members have elected this year’s new Fellows and named the incoming class of the RSC College. In addition to the 102 new Fellows, the Royal Society of Canada has elected 54 new Members of the RSC College – among them is Dr. Patricia Pelufo Silveira, of the Douglas Research Centre.
The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. It comprises a fourth entity (along with the current three Academies) within the Royal Society of Canada. The Members of the College are Canadians and Permanent Residents who, at an early stage in their career, have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The criteria for election is excellence, and membership is for seven years. The College consists of mid-career leaders who provide the RSC with a multigenerational capacity to help Canada and the world address major challenges and seize new opportunities including those identified in emerging fields.
“The Royal Society of Canada is delighted to welcome this outstanding cohort of artists, scholars and scientists. These individuals are recognised for their exceptional contributions to their respective disciplines and are a real credit to Canada,” says RSC President Jeremy McNeil.
On Friday, November 25, 2022, the RSC will welcome the Class of 2022 new RSC Fellows and new Members of the RSC College and present awards for outstanding research and scholarly achievement. The ceremonies will be held in person in Calgary, Alberta. We hope you will join us in celebrating this stunning landscape of talent, imagination, discipline, and discovery.
