Drs. Mallar Chakravarty and Marco Prado (Western University) have been awarded a significant grant through a brand new initiative from Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) and BrainsCAN, two Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF)-supported initiatives in brain health. Through HBHL's Initiative in Translational Neuroscience, Drs. Chakravarty and Prado are joining forces to tackle drug-discovery efforts in neurodegenerative diseases, applying their expertise in computational neuroscience and neurochemistry, respectively, to better predict which drugs may become successful in clinical trials.
“Our goal is to establish a clear path forward for a novel way to consider the testing of new drugs,” said Dr. Chakravarty. “Our work seeks to establish promising leads so that we will be able to identify drugs with best potential for moving to clinical trials in humans.”
