Last week, McGill University announced the 2025 recipients of Distinguished James McGill Professors, James McGill Professors and William Dawson Scholars.
Among the recipients, we are pleased to announce that Dr Cecilia Floress has been awarded the title of James McGill Professor.
Each year, the Distinguished James McGill Professor, William Dawson Scholar and James McGill Professor awards recognize the extraordinary contributions of McGill’s research community. I extend my warmest congratulations to this year’s recipients. Your scholarly leadership and commitment to advancing knowledge help drive McGill’s impact in Quebec, Canada, and around the world.
– Christopher Manfredi, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), McGill University
The James McGill Professorship is awarded to researchers who have distinguished themselves through the excellence of their work and their international reputation. Dr. Flores heads the Adolescent Brain Development and Susceptibility to Psychopathology Laboratory at the Douglas Research Centre. Her research focuses on changes in the dopaminergic system induced by genetic abnormalities, drug exposure or stress at different stages of development. She is particularly interested in how these factors influence the development of the prefrontal cortex in adolescents, thus affecting resilience or vulnerability to psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, depression and addiction.
Congratulations to Dr. Flores!
