About the committee
Launched in 2024, the Douglas Open Science Student Committee aims to build an engaged open science community and train the next generation of researchers and professionals.
The committee is open to students at all levels as well as postdoctoral fellows, and brings together representatives from the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI) Trainee Council and the Douglas Academic Life Committee (DAL). It is supported by Dr. Katie Lavigne and Dr. Isabel Bacellar.
Recent activities
The committee organizes open science training activities, including hands-on workshops on open access and article processing charges, offered to trainees and staff at the Douglas and McGill.
These initiatives build on the Douglas Open Science Training Series, which has reached over 170 participants, with recordings available on the Douglas YouTube channel.
The committee also contributes to recognition initiatives, including open science awards that support and highlight innovative projects.
