Douglas researchers are conducting important research on Alzheimer’s disease.

Drs Sylvia Villeneuve and Judes Poirier were interviewed by TVA Nouvelle to talk about their research into Alzheimer’s disease, in particular the identification of tau and amyloid in the brains of individuals at very high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease in later years.

This work, carried out at the Douglas and involving more than 400 patients, is all the more relevant given that new pharmacological approaches to treating Alzheimer’s disease are currently being studied with a view to reducing amyloid plaques in the brain.
