Investigation of the hippocampus in physiological and pathological aging using multi-contrast and multi-modal imaging techniques
Résumé
The study of the hippocampus in aging has led to conflicting results in degenerative trajectories and even in cognitively healthy individuals. Of importance, the definition of the hippocampal anatomy and the methods employed to study this structure have been inconsistent. Further, very few studies have used data-driven approaches or quantitative MRI techniques to better characterize the underlying microstructural tissue changes (such as myelin or iron content). This talk will highlight how to use multimodal imaging techniques and multivariate analyses to improve our understanding of the impact of aging and Alzheimer’s disease progression on the hippocampus.
