Environmental Adversity, Neurodevelopment, and Mental Health – Invited Speaker Event

Please join us on Wednesday, December 16, 2 pm for a special seminar by Dr. Boyce, a Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at UCSF and 2020 Child Mind Institute Sarah Gund Distinguished Scientist, based at University of California, San Francisco. Seminar title: “Gene-environment interplay and the biology of misfortune”.

Dr. Boyce’s research addresses individual differences in children’s biological susceptibility to social contexts, and he proposed the very well known “Orchids and Dandelions” metaphor to explain these differences. This work is the subject of his 2019 book entitled The Orchid and the Dandelion: Why Some Children Struggle and How All Can Thrive (Knopf).
