Juan Pablo Lopez
2022-02-14 @ 11:00 EST
Please join us on February 14, 2022, for a special seminar by Dr. Juan Pablo Lopez, entitled “The neurobiology of stress-related psychiatric disorders and their treatment.”
Dr. Juan Pablo Lopez is a Molecular Neuroscientist interested in understanding the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders and their treatment, using animal models. Through a series of innovative concepts, tools and techniques, his research seeks to elucidate the mechanisms by which stressors are perceived and processed into molecular, neuroendocrine and behavioural responses, under healthy and pathological conditions. During this talk, he will discuss recently published findings which describe an in-depth molecular characterization of all three components of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, under baseline and chronic stress conditions, using single-cell transcriptomics. In addition, he will discuss new findings describing cell-type specific molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of adult and early life stress, the sustained antidepressant effects of ketamine, as well as the implementation of automated behavioural tracking and analysis systems of complex behaviours for groups of mice.
