Title
Harnessing Machine-Learning for Longitudinal Inference of Biomarkers in Psychosis – The Hippocampus in Depth and across the Multiscale.
Short Bio
Jana completed her B.Sc. in Psychology at Maastricht University in 2020 and then received her M.Sc. in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Maastricht University in 2022. As part of her M.Sc.
she completed a research internship at the Douglas Research Centre in the CRISP group, where she is now pursuing her Ph.D. in Mental Health at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Martin
Lepage and Dr. Katie Lavigne. Her Ph.D. focuses on psychosis, multimodal neuroimaging, and machine-learning.
Talk description
Novel machine-learning approaches pave the way towards the assessment of disease progression across patient clusters. In this talk, I will present work on how we harnessed a recently developed machine-learning algorithm, Subtype and Stage Inference, to identify distinct disease progression patterns across subtypes of psychosis. This research moves from the assessment of a multiscale model (from hippocampal-cortical connectivity towards social cognition and functional outcomes) towards the specific assessment of hippocampal volume and morphometric hippocampal-cortical connectivity. I will further show how these disease subtypes relate to clinical measures of psychosis.
