2024-09-11 @ 14:00 - 15:00 EDT

Please join us on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 2:00 PM, for the next CIC Imaging Series.

Speaker

Gabriel A. Devenyi
Research Associate, CoBrA Lab

Biography

Gabriel joined CoBrALab in August 2014 when it made its transition from UofT’s CAMH to the McGill’s Douglas Brain Imaging Center. Prior to joining CoBrALab, Gabriel completed a Bachelor of Engineering and Ph.D. in Engineering Physics at McMaster University where he studied the role interfaces play in crystal growth for semiconductor applications. In CoBrALab Gabriel fills the role of “expert generalist”, where any day he might be designing a low-cost animal perfusion rig, replacing a failed hard drive, writing C++ code for image registration tools, helping with the intricacies of a particular statistical analysis problem, or tweaking a neuroimaging pipeline to run more efficiently on 30,000 MRIs. Gabriel has a particular interest in working with new species of structural imaging data, such as chimps, lizards, squirrels and muskrats. Gabriel also is the Project Lead for the Douglas Neuroinformatics Platform, where he manages a team that builds and maintains infrastructure and software for scientific data and computing at the Douglas Research Centre.

Title

A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Preclinical MRI

Abstract

This lecture will provide a broad overview of MRI methods for investigating the brain of preclinical animal models, from design of experiment, through image acquisition, preprocessing, image analysis techniques and up to advanced statistical methods. Join the CIC Imaging series for a whirlwind tour.

How to attend

The event will be held in the Bowerman Room and will be rebroadcast by Zoom.
