Carolina Makowski

2022-07-06 @ 16:00 EDT

Please join us on July 6, 2022, at 4:00 PM, for a special seminar by Carolina Makowski, PhD, which will be held in the Bowerman Room. Dr. Makowski will give a talk entitled, “Elucidating the genetic architecture of the cortex and links to psychiatric disorders through genetically-informed brain atlases.”

Carolina Makowski is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California San Diego, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind. She obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology (2014) and PhD in neuroscience (2019) at McGill University. Her postdoctoral work integrates large brain imaging and genetics datasets, such as the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, to better understand various biological risk factors of psychiatric disorders. Carolina is also the current Career Development and Mentoring Manager for the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM)’s Student and Postdoc Special Interest Group (ohbmtrainees.com), and a blog editor for a platform that aims to amplify the voices of early career researchers (ecrlife.org). When she’s not doing research, you can find her running along the Pacific coastline, dancing, or getting lost in a good book.
