Title
Abstract
Amyloid and tau proteins are the main pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) that start to deposit in the brain decades before the onset of any clinical symptom. Both proteins can be imaged in vivo in the brain using positron emission tomography (PET), which allows to study AD pathophysiology across the whole continuum of the disease, i.e. from the preclinical phase of the disease (before there is any symptom) up to the dementia stage. There has also been a lot of recent advances in fluid biomarkers development that can complement how we can study the disease processes. In this talk, I will discuss recent work combining imaging and novel biomarkers to better understand the mechanisms leading to cognitive decline and better characterize at-risk individuals.
