Research projects are monitored by the Research Ethics Boards (REB).
Renewal
Ethics approval of all research projects must be renewed each year, failing which, activities must be suspended and participating institutional directorates notified. Two reminder messages will be sent by the REB to the principal investigator, but it is the responsibility of the latter to ensure the timely renewal of his/her projects.
To renew a research project, you must submit the form below to recherche.comtl@ssss.gouv.qc.ca. The form must be submitted no later than two weeks before the expiry date of the ethics approval.

- Renewal form for a project approved by St. Mary’s REC
Amendment
The REB must be informed of any changes made to the project, be it the addition of participants, a change of recruitment announcement, etc. An amendment is usually reviewed by a delegate committee but those that affect the level of risk for participants may require a full board review at the monthly REB meeting.
To amend a project, you must submit the form below to recherche.comtl@ssss.gouv.qc.ca.

- Amendment form for a project approved by St. Mary’s REC
If the amendment affects the institution’s terms of participation (e.g., adding an installation to the project), it will have to be submitted for a new site-specific requirement assessment and the authorization will have to be reconfirmed. The researcher will be notified.
